Known Issues - Blackboard 8

Some of my students are having problems taking my online exam. They report that when they take my exam, the time banner displays in the upper right and spans the entire length of the screen and covers up the save and submit options. Other students don’t have this problem. What is going on?
This is only a problem for students who have the most recent version of Internet Explorer (IE), version 8. It is not a problem for students who are using IE 7, Firefox, Safari or another web browser.

Work-around:

Tell students to check their version of Internet Explorer and if they are using IE 8, they need to apply the work-around or use an alternative web browser to access Blackboard. Click on the link below to access the Microsoft Knowledgebase article that contains the work-around IE 8. Refer to Method 1 or Method 2 to change the Compatibility View feature.

Help! My inbox has been flooded with e-mails from students who are trying to submit their papers in the Assignment section of Blackboard. Although many can do this, others have written me comments such as this: “I have been trying to attach my assignment to the posting board under the assignment tab for the past couple of days and I can’t figure out why it won't work. Every time I try to attach it, I get a warning telling me to attach a valid file.”
This is a Known Issue in Blackboard, but only affects students using the newest Mozilla Firefox web browser, version 3.5. The work-around is to tell students that they need to submit their assignments using a computer with a compatible web browser. For example, Internet Explorer, Safari, or Firefox 3.0.11 or below.
